African Furniture - Hippo Coffee Tables
African Furniture Design has set new standards with 
these magnificent Hippo Coffee Tables which are
without doubt the most unique pieces of furniture to
come out of Africa in years - only two Hippo Tables
have ever been made - both different.
The first table is of a Bull Hippo in a threatening
position with its mouth wide open. This is the
classic stance of all male Hippos to show
dominance towards another male.
The second Coffee Table is a female hippo with its
head under the water (glass)
These Unusual Coffee Tables can seat six people
comfortably - (L) 165 cm (w) 110 cm (H) 73 cm
with a weight of 140 kg.
To create this African Style Furniture a Master
Craftsman from Zambia was commissioned to
carve the hippos from Mahogany Wood. The
Hippo was 'sliced' horizontally with a very fine
blade to allow for the glass table top. Holes were
drilled through the 10 mm toughened glass and
wooden pins join the hippo to the glass. This also
allows for the table to be disassembled for easy
shipping to the lucky buyer. These Unique Coffee
